Tuesday with Kelli/Mary Jewel!!!

Hello everyone, welcome to Tuesdays with Kelli as we take a little side tour with Mary jewel my daughter.  I was crazy busy this past few weeks getting back from one vacation and preparing for another.  Finishing project that I knew were due while I was away, a huge pile by the way.  So here I am in the middle of preparing hands for a fat book swap, making ATCs for another swap, 30 of them, and getting cards ready for various other reasons and I remember IT’S MY TUESDAY!!!!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, so my wonderful, lovely, talented daughter says, that’s ok mom I can help you!!!  And help me she did, She made this weeks card for you using the Killer Bo Peep set from Smeared Ink.  She did a wonderful job if I do say so myself as the proud mommy!!!

Now she told me she didn’t want it to say anything because she couldn’t think of anything for it to say right now so that’s why it doesn’t say anything!!!  I love the grey and black roses that the sheep is standing in!  I also love the way she colored peep with her acid yellow hair!!!  The background paper I can’t remember where that came from but the cardstock is SU.  Please leave her some love!!!

Clean and Simple…with Blood Splatter?

Greetings! Alison here. It’s no secret that I think Nicole Maki is a Goddess when it comes to her creativity. She’s amazing. So it’s no surprise that when I saw her “Clean and Simple Card Set,” I was inspired.  So I decided to give it a go with one of the Chicks from Smeared Ink’s Chicks Dig Guns set, along with some of the splatters from the Inky Dreams set (also Smeared Ink).

Truth be told, I think the size of my card is too big. But my smaller cards are too small. I will probably cut this one down (just a little off the top) so that the chick fits better.

But boy! What a mess she’s made! I hope she has some Clorox hidden somewhere…

I stamped her with StazOn and added no color or shading. I stamped the splatter with Scarlet from Color Box then embossed it with Ranger’s red powder for some sheen and dimension. Yum. I also added a bit of a shadow underneath the chick with my grey watercolor marker. But that’s about it. Fast, simple…and a bit gruesome.

Here you can see the embossing.  I wonder what pissed her off. But I sure hope she’s gotten over it now.

On that cheerful note, I bid you adieu. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things

Today's posting will be a short one as I have a few gatherings to attend this weekend.  I made this little layout for Smeared and Smudged's "Oh, The Horror" challenge.  This is a movie inspiration challenge and this month's pick is "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things".  I haven't seen the movie, but was inspired by the movie title.  Here is my take on the challenge:

I used Smeared Ink's "As Death" rubber stamp set for this one, heat embossed it with zing embossing powder, and painted the image with wet perfect pearls.  You have until the end of the month to play along.  All participants receive a free digi image just for playing.  One lucky random winner will receive a prize from:

Cheers!

Forever Friends

Hello everyone, sorry I am late today.  I had a wonderfully long weekend vacation and am running a little behind.. Today I am showing a “scrapbook” I am working on.  As most of you know I spent my long weekend vacation in NY visiting Alison and her family and while there we went to the Long Island Children’s Museum. It was so fun!  Anyway, I knew I wanted to scrap the pictures that were taken and also start scrapping the 17 gagillion boxes of pictures I have so why not start now!!!  Anyway, I knew this had to be something that wasn’t just an 8x8 page or a 12x12 page and I had these lying around so this is what I am doing….
I am taking this…
 IMG_0429
and turning it into a scrapbook.  As of now I just have one section started and it isn’t done, but I wanted to show you to give you an Idea of what I was doing.  I am thinking of doing both sides and hanging it from the ceiling in my craft room, what do you think?  Then again if I do one side I can hang it on the wall…. decisions decisions…. Ok so for the first one, Alison and I took a picture together that reminded me of the fun house mirrors at a carnival so that is what I went with.  Right now all I have on the section is the paper and the words which came from the Carnies set over at Smeared Ink.  The picture is added digitally but I will have them printed out soon!!!
What do you think?  Good idea? Bad idea? Throw it out? Keep it?  I need opinions as I am just getting into the scrapping thing!!!

Opal Wings

This is going to be a super quick post today. Why? Because my girl Kelli and her family came up for a visit! We are going to be off to the zoo in a few minutes, so I hafta run! But here is my Smeared Ink offering for the day.

Lots of Smeared Ink goodness on this card! I used one of the very pretty hearts and senti from the Heart Wings set, and a bunch of splatters from Inky Dreams

I used opal like colors for the wings…and a Color Box petal point for the background.

I think it’s a pretty softer side of Smeared Ink. Thanks for stopping by! Have an inspiring day!

Experimental Art Journal

The Mad Scientist is at it again! I created an art journal for experimenting with collage and design techniques. I used the Sculpture Paper method that Terra presented in the Mixed Media University (and because she said you can't dry it with a heat gun, I tried it. Beware the surface dries and the underside doesn't so if you crumple, UGH! lol) BUT if you layer another piece of paper towel over, it becomes a sort of faux leather consistency when it dries, too thick to crumple but pretty cool (i think!).

The image is the digi Mad Scientist from Smeared Ink, colored with colored pencils and cut out. The sentiment is Stencil font in Works and computer generated. The covers are recycled chipboard and the inside is paper bags bound in 3 signatures of 12-16 pages with dental floss (didn't have any waxed linen/thread). I want to give this a go again and try to take some pics of the process for you but not today. The finished book is roughly 6"x 6.5"x 2". The technique to assemble the outer journal is from the Rustic Journal course at Green Isle Crafts. The signatures were assembled a little differently (I will have to look for the source.)

Dragonday again

Its the old Dragons turn to post again and i thought i'd share with you something a bit different for me..... one the forum we are having an ART SWAP..... so i am sharing with you today the reverse side of mine.... which is, as we speak, winging its way to Terra.
This side is painted with acrylic ..... and has blue, aqua and white (paint) swirls stamped all over it.
I used the GODDESS rubber stamp set for this as their hair hair being a mass of swirls was perfect for this job..... but i had a devil of a time getting the paint out of the little nooks and crannies. I made a clay face and painted it to match.... put little gems around it instead of hair and HEY-PRESTO my water goddess..... which is one side of my character.... peaceful, calm and soothing.... but i am also deep, stormy, wild and very unpredictable.
I shall reveal the other side in two weeks when its dragons day again..... and i'll reveal more of the real me..... these ART DOLLS are dangerous things!
Thanks for looking love lynx

Skull Appreciation Day...June 4th, 2011

It’s Skull Appreciation Day! It all started at a little blog called Skull A Day. Here’s what they wrote about this new international holiday: “We here at Skull-A-Day have decided that there needs to be an official international day of cranial love! To that end we're starting a campaign to get June 4th (the day Skull-A-Day started) officially recognized as Skull Appreciation Day around the world in 2011, and of course to get as many people celebrating it as possible.”

So, the members at Smeared & Smudged (Thanks Steph for starting it all!) decided it would be fun to do a massive member blog hop. And I do mean massive! We have 37 people in our hop today! That alone is cause for celebration! I think it’s awesome that so many folks have come together for such a unique day…all creating something fabulous and…well…skully! Start the hop at Terra’s blog (which has ALL the info on the hop). I will have the entire hop list at the bottom of this post though. We have many amazing sponsors for this hop, so please be sure to stop by everyone’s blog…or you might miss out on some great prizes!
BTW...although I posted this on Friday, the Hop for Skull Appreciation Day starts Saturday June 4th.

Skull mail art

for my Thursday offering I bring you my first ever Mail Art...
I did this and sent them in to be displayed in their mail art exhibit....I wasn't quite sure on how to make mail art...but everything I read pretty much said to just do whatever...as long as it is the right size and not bulky....so here is what I did....

for this one I took acrylic paint and painted the top...then added a bunch of water and let it run down...I took another as death stamp and stamped it.

and this one is my fave! I took my side skull from the anatomy digi set printed it of and cut my paper to size...then I took some Vaseline and applyed it to my skull...I then painted over the whole thing with bronze acrylic paint...let it dry then wiped off the Vaseline...I did have to scratch at it (just with my fingernails) because I didn't put enough Vaseline on but I just love the effect...I then took my quoth the raven stamps and added a bit more to it...

now I hope this gets you pumped and ready for the blog hop on the 4th...I know I can't wait! stop by the forum to sign up...you get to choose a really cool digi if you do :)

Wednesday Journal

hi kids.
I finally got a bit of time to create something!

I did this just for fun. I hope to fill this journal up someday.. but for now.. It is just going to sit pretty on my table :)

I covered a little blank journal with some bright paper.
stamped my goddesses and nymphs, colored them with watercolor pencils and added some embellies. I used some rubons from my stash, some bling and lots of flowers.

I wanted this to be peaceful and earthy.. I think I came close to that effect..

Thanks for allowing me to share :)
I can't wait to get my hands on more journals!!
